REMOTE COMMUNICATION TOWER AND SHELTER INSTALLATION IDIQ

For this IDIQ contract under the US Forest Service, Northwind provided the demolition and installation of communication buildings, fencing, and gates sites throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico. Sites were located in remote, mountainous terrain, largely ranging from 6,000 to 12,000 feet in elevation.

Northwind provided all aspects of the construction of the project including the engineering, design, testing, inspection, and commissioning. Northwind also provided the required supervision, labor, material, tools, supplies, and equipment necessary to perform the demolition, and construction phases of the project.

In preparation for the towers, Northwind prepared site and grading plans, secured permitting for improvements, performed initial grounding studies and R56 grounding designs.  We also performed site topographical and utility surveying.

For one of the task orders under this contract, Northwind was responsible for the nationwide transportation of 23 shelters and their respective supplies to separate high-elevation repeater sites using ground and/or helicopter transportation methods (see photos to the right).
